Get ready for a Black Mirror-style mockumentary about 2020

Charlie Brooker's latest Netflix project will star Hugh Grant. We are not making this up.

Still from Black Mirror

Despite acknowledging that perhaps the general state of the world was a bit too grim for an audience to be able to stomach any new episodes of Black Mirror this year, it seems that Charlie Brooker — the show’s creator — had something dystopian up his sleeve for us all along.

And just who spilled the beans? Why, it was Charlie’s unlikely star Hugh Grant, patron saint of 90s softbois, that revealed a few details about the project in a recent interview with Vulture.

“I’m doing a thing tomorrow, actually,” replied Hugh casually, when asked about his future projects. “Charlie Brooker has written a mockumentary about 2020. It’s for Netflix, and I am a historian who’s being interviewed about the year.” The actor also let slip a few facts about his character: “I’m pretty repellent, actually! And you’ll like my wig.”

At the moment, this is all we know about the as-yet-untitled mockumentary. But we have so many questions, the most pressing of all being: will Hugh’s latest performance top the actor’s cinematic triumph in Paddington 2? Only time will tell.
