tyler, the creator responds to ex-fan’s reddit dis
Wouldn’t we all rather he rapped about how happy he is rather than about raping girls and being sad?
Tyler, The Creator has responded to a Reddit user who dissed him in a short post on r/OFWGKTA titled "I'm done with Tyler". 19 year old "cokomok" explained that he had become tired of Tyler's "arrogant, braggadocios and unrelatable recent attitude," adding that, "I can't relate to him talking about wanting a McLaren, having big chains, or being a god like I related to him rapping about his life and feeling depressed because he was stuck in a house arguing with his grandma or about girl trouble".
In a pretty lengthy response on ask-me-anything platform spring.me, Tyler hit back that he only spoke about cars and jewels on three tracks from Cherry Bomb, listing 13 other songs where he didn't, also pointing out that his grandma is dead, so it would be pretty weird to still be singing about arguing with her. Addressing the suggestion by cokomok that being happy doesn't mean you have to go on about it, Tyler says, "being hapy [sic] doesn't mean you have to say it all the time? why not? why can't i share my joy with the world? ohhh, it was cool when i was raping girls and telling you how sad i was on records, but when shit changes and i'm feeling great and i fuck with myself you can't deal with it? cause you can't relate?"
Tyler conceded that, "when you have a favorite artist, you tend to grasp onto an era, trust me i do that with artist that i love," but added that he also expected his favourite artists to grow and change. The founding member of the now disbanded Odd Future collective ended with the ultimate #sorrynotsorry, saying, "sorry for being me, i apologize in advance cause IM GONNA CONTINUE TO DO THAT FOREVER."
