Great news, world: new music from Grimes is only a month or two away! Yesterday the Canadian artist took to Instagram with a progress report on her new record, the would-be follow up to 2015's critically acclaimed Art Angels.

The producer describes her new project as navigating "unexplored sonic landscapes," which she's been in the studio every day trying to discover. She's challenged herself "to legit make something you've never heard before." A tough ask, to be sure.

In the Instagram post, Grimes admits that she's "been quiet lately," which doesn't feel entirely accurate. Since 2015, she's teamed up with Stella McCartney to promote sustainability in fashion, released seven guerilla music videos with her best friend HANA, and started a second Instagram account dedicated to her visual art — not to mention producing/directing/editing/suddenly-dropping her Venus Fly music video earlier this year. All this while channeling unadulterated creativity to record her new album. Oh, and writing a novel. Phew!

Grimes finishes her post with a promise: "won't let u down :p" We're very much inclined to believe her.
