Next month, Melbourne photographer Heather Lighton will release her first book, simply titled Youth. For the past several years Heather has garnered a reputation for her sun soaked images of beautiful people and things, so it comes as no surprise her first large scale print project is a celebration of lovely young women.

Although the project started as a celebration of the physical through shooting and spending time with each girl, the task soon morphed into something more. From picking the girls off the street and social media, to spending time with them over often several days, Heather realized they were more than pretty faces. The final result is a personal celebration of not just physical beauty, but also new friends, and the complex lives of these young women. As Heather summarizes, "To label them all as simply 'beautiful' is to dismiss the core of them, which is that they are all unique young women being themselves and growing up."
