Stepping into the mix is a man with a sound way beyond his years. Still in early 20s, Barney Khan moved to Berlin just over nine months ago to hone his sound and immerse himself in the heart of the underground techno scene. His productions are...

"I'm currently working on an A/V show that will feature only my own material. This is my first recorded mix under this project and I wanted to use it to completely separate my DJing from that project. I think being able to operate without expectations allows full creative freedom. So I'm doing my best to keep curveballs coming with each release.

There are plenty of DJs from each sub-community who have very similar set-lists these days. So rather than going down the route of what's current, I opted to just be myself, and go for selections with longevity, from the producers that are the constant inspiration behind my own productions. While also showcasing the range of sounds I like to explore when in the club, and the mixing style I've developed through my years of playing d'n'b"

What's the most hedonistic party you've ever been to?
Berghain ruins the fun of questions like these so I'm picking something else: Unknown Festival for me personally. As a whole it wasn't a super hedonistic event but me and my friends were on some magic wavelength that weekend and pushed things pretty far. I'm always broke so I used to review festivals for a semi-legitimate website to get in free to events. Blagging loads of free champagne and the general naughtiness as a member of the press gives me that Hunter S. Thompson feeling. I couldn't even button my coat up on the last day. I'd probably still be in Croatia if my friends didn't get me to the plane.

What's the most phenomenal clubbing venue in the world and why?
Outside of the human/political/soundsystem side of Berghain I'd say Butlins, Minehead for Bloc festival. I didn't make the grand return but when it was last on a few years ago it was special. Outside of the great lineup and plush hotel rooms/chalets there's just that special Butlins vibe that brings out the child in everyone.

If you could go back to back with any DJ, at any venue, who would it be and why? History is made at night...
While we're in the realms of fantasy I'd say b2b with Mefjus at Berghain. I'd give everything I own to hear a quality drum and bass set through that soundsystem.

What was the best night of your life?
I couldn't pick one, probably just chilling with my friends. I moved to Berlin to get away from them all and get my head down on this music. It really puts it into perspective how special they are. Awww shucks guys IDST LY4eva <3

What's the most debauched thing you've ever seen on the dance floor?
Thankfully I can't see myself when I'm out so it has to be my friend Jamie watching Âme in Ibiza on LSD. There were different stages of debauchery. There was the overjoyed moment when he got his dick out in excitement, strange moments where he was in slow motion, and the poignant moments where he was just a broken man teetering on the border of insanity. It was a mind-blowing set to be fair. Needless to say, there were moments that night I thought we could end up in jail.

What would your dream rider consist of?
Just a few cans of Rio, or if it's going to be a particularly wild weekend some multi-vitamin flavor Capri-Sun to balance everything out.

What does your actual rider consist of?
I'm too shy to ask for Rio or Capri-Sun. Maybe when I'm a bit bigger.

What's your favorite party anthem of all time?
Paul Simon, Diamonds in the Soles of Her Shoes

What producer are you predicting big things from this year?
Bob Moses, if they beat Âme and Ten Walls to the album release I think it'll be the perfect crossover house record that maintains artistic integrity. Koze was close to the perfect balance with his last year but I think it was a bit more underground than crossover, not that either is better than the other.

Where do you go when the record ends and the lights come on?
Back to a friends' or my place to listen to Shlohmo and chill as hard as we just partied. Or if the sun's rising and it's warm to Görlitzer Park. I always bring portable speakers out with me for this very purpose.

What track would you end the night on when everyone's still awake and its time to go to sleep?
This is my specialty area. If it's the last track of a DJ set maybe Kiasmos, Thrown or Mano Le Tough, The Sea InsideIf it's back at home, outside of the album Bad Vibes by Shlohmo, I'll say James Devine's classical guitar cover of Rhubarb by Aphex Twin... maybe you'll invite me back for a Slumber Sessions mix and I can show you how real men sleep. You know I've got the candles on and my underwear is pure silk.

What's your party trick?
I can make burgers appear from my pocket to others disgust and my delight.

Finish the sentence, the music sounds better with...
