fashion and music go head to head on i-D’s mfw stage
i-D and Melbourne Fashion Week have curated a week long music calendar and it's going to be glorious. Here's who's playing.
From the 1st to the 8th of September, Melbourne Fashion Week will return with a full program of parades, parties, films, exhibitions and fashion-related events celebrating the local industry. Interestingly, this year has seen some nips and tucks, with the festival dropping the 'Spring' from its title after some 23 years, and adding some great new elements to the schedule — including a full music program and week-long dedicated music stage, presented by yours truly.
Between 5 and 10PM each day, the music stage will be host to a curated line up of musicians, DJs and party people, guaranteed to bring the vibes. Playing live and DJing will be some of Melbourne's finest and favourite including: Jennifer Loveless, Brooke Powers, Laila Sakini, Ying-Li Hooi, Sovereign Trax, Perfume, Maya Hirasedo, Fia Fiell, Sui Zhen, Toni Yotzi, Lisa Lerkenfeldt, Sweet Whirl, Primo!, Waterhouse, Karli White, HABITS, Chiara Kickdrum, Jessica Says, Slime and HOLY BALM. Fresh!
In addition to all that, we've invited some i-D friends and family to DJ — including i-D editor Isabelle Hellyer, Le Fag's David Pits, model Prince, Garbage TV's Kiel Rodger, artist and designer besties Agi Kowalewski & Gian Malik, Marli Atterton from Slow Waves, frontman Mossy and Folk Collective's Sunni Hart. They'll be doing their thing on the decks each night.
It's all happening in the Melbourne Town Hall forecourt every night before and after each show, you can find all the juicy details here.
