charlotte olympia launches ba footwear scholarship
One talented student will be funded to go through the prestigious Cordwainers course at London College of Fashion.
One of London College of Fashion's top footwear alumni, Charlotte Olympia, is giving back to the fashion school by providing a scholarship for one talented student on the BA Cordwainers Footwear course. The programme, which has a 125 year history, has an illustrious roll call of alumni that includes Charlotte Olympia Dellal herself, as well as Jimmy Choo, Nicholas Kirkwood, Patrick Cox, Sophia Webster and many more.
"I am very happy to be giving something back to a school [that] provided me with the skills and confidence to create my own luxury brand and build a career in an industry I love," Dellal says. BFC Ambassador for Emerging Talent Sarah Mower MBE says, "Charlotte sets an example as a businesswoman and entrepreneur with her glamorous and witty signature accessories. In establishing this award, she is also a standard-bearer for philanthropy in education, at a time when students' financial struggle to meet the rising costs of fees and living has never been so acute. In joining with objectives of the British Fashion Council Education Foundation, Charlotte's generosity and mentorship will ensure a bright future for the next talents in accessories - a sector which holds the promise of excellent career prospects."
A judging panel that includes Dellal, Mower, Business of Fashion founder Imran Amed and Harrods Fashion Director Helen David will select one exceptional student from the first year of the BA Cordwainers Footwear course at London College of Fashion to be funded to complete the final three years of the course, including a year's paid internship at Charlotte Olympia.
