the trailer for the goob has just dropped
The Norfolk banger-racing, coming-of-age drama is not messing about.
The moped-cruising, knicker-dropping, car-flipping trailer for Guy MyHill's directorial debut, The Goob, is finally here. The film follows 16-year-old Goob, played by newcomer Liam Walpole, through a long hot summer of banger racing, fighting, fucking and, err, pumpkin picking, in an uncompromising coming-of-age flick set in small-town rural Norfolk.
The lead, Liam Walpole, was plucked from obscurity (and unemployment) when he physically bumped into the film's casting director on the street; she was looking for authentic Norfolk accents, he was looking for a job and the rest is history. "Liam's just got this extraordinary physicality and quite an ethereal look, so he was just perfect," director Guy MyHill told Creative England.
Despite not being out until 29 May, The Goob has already won a number of awards, including the Golden Hitchcock at the Dinard Film Festival, and is an official selection of both SXSW and BFI London Film Festival.
