Since dropping its Team GB prefix last year, the London-based awards, in partnership with Swarovski, recognise creativity and innovation in global fashion. Celebrating exceptional individuals whose imagination has broken new ground across borders these past 12 months alongside the brands and businesses that have transformed the possibilities of fashion today and tomorrow. So, it should come as no surprise that after 2000 industry insiders were invited to put forward their preferences for each category, Jonathan Anderson for J.W.Anderson and Loewe, Alessandro Michele for Gucci, and Demna Gvasalia for Vetements and Balenciaga feature heavily in the nominations for 2017.
"These designers and brands were chosen from hundreds of international names and they represent the most creative talent and innovative businesses of the year", Dame Natalie Massenet, Chairman of the BFC, explained during today's announcement. "I am thrilled to be welcoming them to London on 4 December at the Royal Albert Hall to celebrate their incredible achievements, alongside industry friends from the world over."
For Designer of the Year, Michele and Anderson will fight it out against Maria Grazia Chiuri for Dior, Phoebe Philo for Céline and Raf Simons for Calvin Klein. For Model of the Year, spring/summer 18's breakthrough face Kaia Gerber joins familiar favourites Adwoa Aboah, Winnie Harlow and the Hadids, Bella and Gigi. Elsewhere, FENTY PUMA by Rihanna is set to battle Gosha Rubchinskiy, Off-White, Supreme and Vetements for the Urban Luxe Brand award. See the full nominations list here. Who would get your vote?
