caitlyn jenner's e! reality show will return for a second season
The trans trailblazer says she is "looking forward to continuing the conversation" in season two.
Caitlyn Jenner's pioneering reality show, I Am Cait, has been renewed for a second season by the E! network. In a statement, Jenner said she is "looking forward to continuing the conversation" in the next batch of episodes.
Though season one didn't attract a massive audience on E!, it certainly created a conversation on a global scale - the first season has now been shown in 153 countries in 24 different languages, an unprecedented reach for a programme with transgender issues at its core. I Am Caitobviously focuses on one woman's very unique transition, but Jenner - who serves as an executive producer on the series - ensured that season one also had a broader remit. Significant moments included Jenner bonding with fellow trans trailblazer Candis Cayne, who lifted the lid on the difficulties that trans women face when dating, and Jenner attending New York City Pride to connect with the wider LGBT community, a group she had previously felt distanced from. She also highlighted the increased rate of suicide among trans teens by visiting the parents of Kyler Prescott, a 14-year-old from San Diego who took his own life shortly after coming out as trans.
Season one of I Am Cait aired on E! from July to September of this year. E!'s vice president of programming and development, Jeff Olde, said the network is "honoured Caitlyn has chosen to continue to share her ongoing evolution with our viewers around the world" in season two, which will air in 2016.
