beyoncé announces the formation world tour
As part of the tour, Queen Bey will play five UK stadium shows this June and July.
Even by her own sky-high standards, Beyoncé had a pretty epic weekend. First she dropped her politically-charged new single and video Formation; then she made a spotlight-stealing cameo during Coldplay's Super Bowl halftime show. Shortly after her performance, Queen Bey announced The Formation World Tour, a 37-date extravaganza criss-crossing North America and Europe this spring-summer.
The tour will kick off at Miami's Marlins Park on 27 April before beginning its European leg at Sunderland's Stadium of Light on 28 June. The tour includes four other huge UK shows: at Cardiff's Principality Stadium on 30 June, London's Wembley Stadium on 2 July, Manchester's Emirates Old Trafford on 5 July and Glasgow's Hampden Park on 7 July. Tickets for the UK dates go on general sale on 15 February, though members of the singer's Beyhive fan club will be able to secure their seats from tomorrow (8 February). A press release explains that fans attending The Formation World Tour will be given the opportunity to participate in Beyoncé's #BeyGOOD initiative, which supports the United Way charity drive as well as ongoing work to combat the water crisis in Flint, Michigan. Could Beyoncé drop a new album before the tour begins? We wouldn't bet against it.
