i-D april mixtape
Press play on the best tracks of last month.
Putting together the best tracks of April was a difficult one. With good music dropping left right and center, the struggle to cut it down was real, but we've just about managed to pick the cream of the musical crop especially for you. Firing up April's mixtape is something brand new from legends De La Soul and Nas who continue to prove that they still God It, before we move into one of i-D's favorite emerging London producers, Warren Xclnce, with a soulful cut featuring Reiss G and Ego Ella May, Scale It Back. April also saw rising producer Mura Masa drop his Someday Somewhere EP starring more Nao, Jay Prince and i-D Class of 2015 alumni Denai Moore. We also delve into new delights from Nosaj Thing, Swamp81's Mickey Pearce, BBK's Shorty and some brand new, club ready freshness from Lil Silva.
During his RBMA talk with i-D's own Hattie Collins, A$AP Rocky treated us to a brand new track M'$, taken from his forthcoming album, A.L.L.A. San Diego-based Soulection signee Sango also makes this month's cut along with new remixes from Missingno, Lido, Seven Davis Jr and Jacques Greene. The Chemical Brothers are back with the huge club banger Sometimes I Feel So Deserted while we are tuck into new discoveries Sun Glitters, Foreign Skin, Kollaps and Gazi. Don't sleep on new Badbadnotgood either! These are April's essential sounds.
This month's hallucinogenic, tropical desert artwork comes from UK based digital media, collage, photography, drawing, animation & print design artist Tom Sewell. Tom's work explores the confusion of nature and the colour of space and trips us out for the cover of April's mixtape. Follow his work over at www.tomsewell.co.uk
