Over the weekend, St. Vincent made a surprise appearance during Fiona Apple's set at Marfa's Trans-Pecos Festival. She played guitar for a number of Fiona's songs, including her 1996 ballad Pale September. The pair also offered a rendition of Cyndi Lauper's Money Changes Everything, which you can watch below.

Fiona Apple was on the official festival lineup, but Annie Clark wasn't — the cameo came as a total surprise to audiences. After the set wrapped, Clark wrote a glowing Instagram post directed at Apple. It read, "Fiona. I have no words. You saved my life. Thank you. I will love you forever."

Apple's last album, The Idler Wheel, was released in 2012. Though there's no official word on new music, she's reportedly been performing at least one unreleased song during her 2017 festival sets — perhaps a hint at what's to come. St. Vincent's fifth album Masseduction is due out October 13th. As for a duet recorded in the studio? We can dream.
