Tickets to Paris Hilton and Sky Ferreira's horror movie will cost you $263
It’s been seventeen years since Paris Hilton was robbed of a Best Actress Oscar for her scream queen skills when we watched her get staked and embalmed in the horror movie House of Wax. It wasn't her first foray in the horror genre (that was 2002’s low budget Nine Lives), but it turns out it wouldn't be her last either: Paris Hilton will make her cinematic return in new porn slasher movie 18 & Over, produced by Pretty Little Liars star Ashley Benson and being released later this month. But put that Juicy Couture tracksuit you were planning on buying to wear to the premiere back on the rack. The movie will only be viewable to those who purchase one of 10,000 limited edition NFTs, priced at $263 each.
For the first two months of its release, those who have bought one of the NFTs from Nifty Gateway will be able to watch an exclusive “collector’s cut” of the movie on a private link before a theatrical cut is distributed later this year. Producers Hercules Film Fund and Rhea Films have also stated that “long-term holders” of the NFT will also receive other perks such as joining a collector’s community, having virtual hangouts with the movies talent and director, as well as their purchase acting as an invite to the movie’s LA premiere.
As the trailer shows, the slasher movie follows Vicky, played by Ashley Benson, a woman looking for a spiritual escape after the end of her relationship, only to find it in a remote cabin working as a cam girl for an adults-only livestreaming website called 18 & Over. But it seems there is also a masked murderer wielding a crowbar on the loose. One night, when the power goes out, she finds herself being terrorised by him too. Imagine the gag if, this time, Paris was the murderer. We would like to see it.
Produced by Benson and co-created with filmmakers Jimmy Giannopoulos and Diomedes Raul Bermudez, 18 & Over uses the pandemic and quarantine as a backdrop to what filmmakers have called “a night of terror”. It’s the sophomore feature from Jimmy, who last directed a Brooklyn mob thriller called The Birthday Cake that Ashley co-starred in. “After deciding to shoot this film in the middle of the pandemic, we wanted to make something that would be fun but still a terrifying slasher for audiences during these tough times,” Jimmy told Deadline. “A film relevant to today’s issues of a global pandemic, reality shows, isolation, OnlyFans, and obsession.”
What’s more, the show’s cast list seems frankly wild. Alongside Paris as herself and Sky (who similarly appeared in horrors like The Green Inferno and Lords of Chaos) as Stacy, icons like Pamela Anderson and Winnie Harlow are slated to appear as Sheriff Rogers and Lauren, the latter seemingly a part of the movie’s opening kill scene. From the music world, A$AP Nast and G Eazy have been recruited, with the latter responsible for crafting its score — a first for the rapper. Finally Jake Weary (It Follows), Luis Guzmán, Jon Foster, Duke Nicholson, John Robinson and Lindsey Pelas finish up the cast.
Are we excited to see Paris Hilton flex her iconic acting chops again? Hyped to see Sky Ferreira give us something even if it’s not a release date for Masochism? Sky’s long-awaited second album has been in the works since 2015, but is yet to materialise. In the meantime, she’s drip-fed songs like “Downhill Lullaby” and “Don’t Forget”. While we know she’s itching to release some more Masochism music, we’ll sell a limb to buy a ticket to see her and Paris in horror movie mode any day!
