Euphoria season 2 has been compared to “one long music video,” at least according to new cast member Dominic Fike.
Dominic was announced earlier this week as the newest addition to the long-gestating season 2’s line-up, where he’ll be playing a “degenerate homie” of Rue (Zendaya) and Jules (Hunter Schafer).
Speaking to Variety, the alt-pop star revealed that Zendaya and Hunter were also “the nicest people ever” which is nice, isn’t it?
“They’re both really funny,” he said. “We were doing a scene the other day and had to keep redoing it because we just couldn’t stop laughing.”
What’s even more interesting that apparently Dominic’s original role in season 2 was scrapped by writer-creator Sam Levinson (it’s well known that Euphoria’s second season was re-written after initial production was shut down thanks to the start of the pandemic last year) but he was then brought back in for a bigger role.
Apparently, the character reminds Dominic of his younger self. So much so that he says he “doesn’t have to do much acting” for the role.
“He’s exactly like me. It’s shit I would say and shit I would do,” he explained.
For fans, the sophomore season of HBO’s breakthrough teen drama has been a long time coming. Production was derailed altogether by successive lockdowns and restrictions, so Sam Levinson and Zendaya managed to fill the gaps with two self-contained specials focusing on Rue and Jules’ journies in the wake of the season one finale as a bit of a stop-gap between one season’s end and the other beginning.
Now, however, it seems that things really are gearing up for a fully-fledged return. Zendaya herself has already warned, however, that the new season is not going to be a fun watch but no one really watches Euphoria for a hit of feel-good endorphins, right?
Every day is one day closer to the return of our ageless queen, Alexa Demie. And we cannot wait.
