drake's new project won't be coming out this month after all

'More Life' won't be out in time for Christmas, so you'll need to think of a new gift for the Drake fan in your life.

A couple months ago, Drake whipped fans into a frenzy with the announcement of another record, months after VIEWS. "More Life," he Instagrammed, "New project dropping in DECEMBER." Now December has come, and we've learned the compilation album isn't quite ready yet.

Last night on an episode of OVO Sound's radio show, Drake's manager, Oliver El-Khatib, told listeners they wouldn't be hearing the project this year after all. Instead, an early 2017 release has been penciled in. There wasn't any explanation offered, simply an assurance that the project will deliver whenever it arrives. We suspect the OVO crew's other projects might have something to do with it: over the weekend, on December 10, the team opened its first permanent retail space in New York City.

Considering how busy the entire crew has been lately, the delay isn't a huge surprise. More Life is set to featuring new tracks from a roster of OVO artists, including Drake himself.
