kendall jenner: the fashion industry once laughed behind my back
Did being part of the Kardashian clan help or hinder Kendall’s modeling career?
She may have had one of the most explosive introductions to runway modeling ever, walking for Marc Jacobs, Ricardo Tisci and Karl Lagerfeld in her first season, but Kendall Jenner claims that her catwalk career prospects didn't always look so rosy.
"You have no idea how many doors closed on me and how many adults were either initially reluctant to take a chance working with me or who outright laughed at me behind my back," Kendall has claimed in an interview for V magazine's forthcoming May issue. "It was kind of hard because all I was doing was going on go-sees, trying my best to break into this business as a teenager," she continues, adding "My parents taught me that work ethic is one of the most important keys in life, and I believe it."
Kendall initially became famous for starring in family reality TV show Keeping Up With The Kardashians, and there were, admittedly, some voices in the beginning who said she just wasn't 'model material.' But her massive ready-made fame and already-enormous social media following could only hold back her modeling success for so long. Jenner recently snagged a huge billboard campaign for Calvin Klein, one of the most iconic campaigns in the business, which she describes as a "dream come true". Keep dreaming, kid; for the stratospherically famous Kardashians, the sky isn't the limit, it's just the first hurdle.
