jaden smith’s new music video is westworld meets back to the future
The teen shouts out Kid Cudi and vomits in a ghost town in the sunset-hued visual for Fallen.
As the internet geared up for the Westworld finale last night, Jaden Smith dropped a very aesthetically appropriate video for a new track Fallen. The sunset-hued visual shows Jaden stumbling around what looks like a deserted set from HBO's hit Western sci-fi, though that's about where the similarities end. In Jaden's Wild West, moonwalking is the preferred mode of transport and vomiting in the street looks exceptionally elegant. He has also skipped the pioneer costume thing entirely, instead selecting a "flame of disorder" T-shirt, a Suicidal Tendencies patch, and a casual pair of power-lacing Nike Air Mags.
The video was officially debuted by Kid Cudi, who tweeted out a Vimeo link along with the message, "Arrrgghhhhhhhh!! I am honored to debut the epic visuals for my lil bro Jaden's new jam 'FALLEN.' WATCH and FLY." ("I'm dying," Jaden wrote in response). The two have previously come together for Cudi's "Sufin" video and Jaden's track Higher Up, and though Cudi doesn't directly feature in the new video, Jaden pays tribute to his mentor by dancing in front of Cudi's Man on the Moon: The End of Day vinyl.
Fallen is apparently part of Jaden's upcoming project Syre, which also happens to be one of his middle names and the name of his character in the video. Not much else is explained about the new project, but we can probably expect a few more cryptic clues on Twitter.
