Since the original version of his track Unknown (To You) went viral after featuring on Season Three of Power (AKA the best show on TV™), Jacob Banks has experienced increasing success in the US, where he's now signed to Interscope "Kendrick, Lana, Gaga" Records in 2016. Banks has also announced an American tour for later this year (he's already sold out his UK one, nbd).

Born in Nigeria and brought up in Birmingham, the 26-year-old's voluminous baritone has won him legions of fans and accolades. A digital soul sound, Banks' vocal have more in common thematically with the likes of Marvin Gaye, but sit firmly in the contemporary terrain of Frank Ocean and Kanye, just two of the artists he admires most (alongside Kehlani, Daniel Ceser and the poets Anis Mojgani and Miles Hodges).

Following the release of his EP, The Boy Who Cried Freedom, earlier this year, Jacob is currently preparing his debut album for Interscope, due out early 2018. Leading the way is the official release of lovestruck single Unknown (To You) -- the video for which, directed by Jacob, first premiered on i-D -- which comes courtesy of a remix from the one and only Timothy 'Timbaland' Mosley. Arriving rebooted with seriously dramatic strings and a walloping great choir, Tim adds to the gorgeous track in the way only Tim can.

"I'm passionate about working with up and coming artists, the voices of our next generation, and Jacob is one of those voices for sure", Tim tells i-D. "He's an incredible talent, and I knew I had to work with him when I heard Unknown (To You)."

"I grew up listening to Timbo so this means so much to me to have him provide some sauce on the remix," says Jacob.
