Sade, i-D cover star, queen of smooth music and hoop earrings, has just released a new song called Flower of the Universe. Featuring on the soundtrack for Ava DuVernay’s much-anticipated film A Wrinkle in Time, it is the first original new music from Sade in seven years. Reader, it’s worth the wait.

The track’s an enigmatic slow burner, featuring acoustic guitar lines, heavy beating drums and eerie ‘ooos’ befitting of the fantastical sci-fi world the film occupies. It’s produced by No I.D (we won’t take it personally), who tweeted that “it was an honor” to work with such a “legend”. It’s an honour to listen to it too.

As well as Sade, the soundtrack will also feature Sia, Kehlani, Chloe x Halle and DJ Khaled (another one). Not bad, not bad at all.
