Today SBS VICELAND are marking one of the most important days of the year — International Women's Day, duh — by hosting a marathon premiere screening of the powerful new documentary series, WOMAN with Gloria Steinem. From 8.30pm, iconic journalist and feminist Gloria Steinem will investigate how violence against women perpetuates global disparity. Unscripted, honest and revolutionary, WOMAN captures confronting realities, from sexualised violence in Democratic Republic of the Congo, to child brides in Zambia, femicides in El Salvador and mothers behind bars in the U.S.

Steinem explores these stories alongside a global team of female journalists, including Australia's own Katherine Keating — a political activist and editor of VICE's new Impact website. The team will be backing up the WOMAN marathon with an entire week of feature stories on Australian women doing extraordinary work in their industries and communities, beginning 20 March.

Kiwi fans can also catch the action on SKY channel 13, VICELAND from 5PM local time.
