The London menswear designer heads out to sea for The Odyssey Project by Sperry.
Katie Eary has teamed up with Sperry to highlight the importance of shark tagging in marine research and conversation. As part of the brand's 80th anniversary campaign The Odyssey Project, the British designer travelled to Miami to experience shark tagging first hand and make a short film about her expedition."My dad had an aquarium when we were younger, he sold aquatics, so it's been quite a big part of my life," Eary says at the start of the film. She then takes a 40-minute boat ride into the Atlantic Ocean, where she preps bait, helps to reel in a tiger shark and tags one by placing a microchip into the tough flesh beneath its back fin.
At the end of the film, Katie describes working with the marine conversation team as "so inspiring", adding that "travel is just so important to me. It's so important to keep my mind fresh. It was really cool to be part of this, and know that I'm contributing to a really cool bit of research".
