Andrew Tarusov is a Russian-born animation artist now based in Los Angeles. The dichotomy of his early life in the former Soviet Union and current life in sunny SoCal likely informed his new series: syrupy-sweet Disney characters re-cast as slightly ghoulish style of Tim Burton.

The series of 11 illustrations that Tarusov created— including Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Pinocchio — are in the style of Burton's movie posters, drawing on the dark-and-grey visual style of films like Beetlejuice and Edward Scissorhands.

You can see all of Tarusov's designs at his site (you can also download the images for a small fee — a creepy Lion King T-shirt, anyone?).
