We headed to the first of this pint sized lyrical warrior’s sold-out London gigs at DJ Semtex’s Arrival event and the anticipation was rife!

The 20-year old MC and singer, who's been taken under the wing of Timbaland, has managed to carve out her own lane in the mostly male-dominated world of hip hop. I-D headed down to her latest London show, and here's what we found.

1) She can command a stage
Whether firing off bars to her latest smash, Wet Dollars, or delivering dulcet tones of her Aaliyah refix Million - both of which she linked effortlessly within her set - Tink refused to let the crowd get away with a mini skank or a gentle sway, by throwing out as much energy as she expected to receive.

2) She's embracing the UK
Signing over this side of the pond to Black Butter Records (home to the likes of Rudimental, Gorgon City and Clean Bandit) was a smart move by the artist and means the Tazer collaboration, Wet Dollars, not only brings her neatly and instantly into the UK scene with a tried and tested hit but proves just how versatile she is. We were also impressed with her slang, from peng to shuffling and referring to us as her mates!

3) She's an artist's artist
Alongside the usual industry tastemakers and cool crowd were a whole load of artists; including the equally talented and refreshing previous collaborator Kelela, vibing amongst the Dalston crowd.

4) She's casually slaying
Although the Illinois hailing star has been bubbling underground for a minute, 2015 has seen her grace the XXL Freshman cover alongside the likes of Fetty Wap and Dej Loaf, plus tour overseas with back to back sold out shows here in London.

5) The people came for Tink
Despite The Nest being open until 2am with DJs including Tink collaborator DJ Tazer behind the decks, the venue emptied out in an instant - people must have been rushing out of the no-signal basement to get on Twitter and Instagram, because they were ablaze with Tink adoration all night.

Look out for Wet Dollars by @DJ_Tazer and @Official_Tink on Black Butter Records. Keep an eye out for more #Arrivallive events @DJSemtex
