2020 is saved!

While we’re all still REELING from his performance as pastoral prototype literary sadboi Laurie in Greta Gerwig’s Oscar-bait adaptation Little Women, Timothée Chalamet has lined up another new role for us to look forward to. He’s set to play Bob Dylan in a new biopic about the iconic musician. Better yet, it’s a musical (obviously).
The project has reportedly got a sign-off from Dylan himself and the rights to use his music. That means we get to hear Timmy sing! Probably!
Here’s what we know so far: Timothée is set to play the young Dylan, in the period of his life and musical career where he traded in his acoustic folk music background to embrace rock ’n’ roll. In our genreless present day, that doesn’t sound like a big deal, but bear with us because back then they were absolutely raging about it.
While the film title is as yet unconfirmed, Deadline reports that it’s currently being referred to as Going Electric. The project, from Searchlight Pictures, has also signed James Mangold -- who previously worked on Girl, Interrupted and Johnny Cash biopic Walk The Line -- as director.
It’s a busy year for Timmy. Along with this news, he also damn near crashed the Old Vic’s website when tickets for his London stage debut in Eileen Atkins’ 4,000 Miles went live. On top of that, he’s also starring in Wes Anderson’s upcoming The French Dispatch, set to be released later this year. He’s busy! Meanwhile we’re still struggling to get out of bed on time after sleeping until midday over the holidays. Very impressive altogether.
