Jay Z's Tidal may not be topping the iTunes chart just yet, but like the rapper-founder says, it took Spotify nine years to get to their prime spot. In the meantime, he can get his subscribers up by putting himself to good use. The rapper/mogul will be performing an exclusive concert of his own B-Sides on May 13 in New York, following on from Jack White's acoustic show for the music provider last weekend.

The tagline for the live streams may read "Better than the front row, closer than backstage", but Tidal users are nonetheless encouraged to compete for a seat at the one-off gig by creating and sharing playlists tagged #tidalxjayz. It'll be interesting to see what stops Tidal will pull out to prevent the release of YouTube versions, like the ones that quickly emerged of Beyoncé's intended Tidal exclusive, Die With You.

Tidal X: Jaÿ-Z B-Sides will take place on 13th May.
