beyoncé and adele smash the vma nominations
Kanye's also in there, but no sign of his Famous nemesis.
The 2016 VMA nominations are in, and there are basically no surprises. Queen Bey dominates (as she should), with 11 nominations, including Best Pop Video and Video of the Year for "Formation," while Adele has eight nods for 25, seven of which are for "Hello" alone. Hot on their heels are Drake with six, Ariana Grande with five, and everyone's favorite Bad Gal, Rihanna, with three. Elsewhere, in recognition of the late, great David Bowie, "Blackstar" and "Lazarus" have been posthumously nominated for four awards, including Best Art Direction and Best Editing respectively.
Somewhat controversially, Taylor Swift doesn't appear once, while mortal enemy Kanye West's video for "Famous" -- on which he raps about making "that bitch faaaaaaamous" and appears naked in bed with a waxwork figure of Taylor Swift -- has been nominated for Video of the Year. That's the same award Taylor took home last year for "Bad Blood," in which she supposedly disses other mortal enemy Katy Perry.
The 2016 VMAs will air live from New York's Madison Square Garden on August 28 at 9pm. Be there or be square.
