rihanna is officially creating a makeup line
LVMH has landed an estimated $10 million deal with the Caribbean Queen, because greatness doesn't come cheap. Though hopefully the products are a little more affordable.
If you already have a New Year's Resolution in mind for 2017, and it's to become more like Rihanna, you're in luck: BadGal is officially creating a makeup line. WWD reports that the Kendo division of LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton has landed an estimated $10 million deal with the "Work" singer to create a complete makeup collection. It will be called Fenty Beauty by Rihanna and will launch in the fall of 2017.
"Fenty Beauty by Rihanna is a beauty rocket ship that will appeal to a huge and diverse global audience," said David Suliteanu, chief executive officer of Kendo. "We are aiming for the stars." No need to aim too sharp: Rihanna is a human bullseye when it comes to smash-hits both of the musical and makeup variety. Fingers crossed the line includes every ingredient required to get the goth-at-the-hair-salon look Pat McGrath created for Rih's first Fenty x Puma collection.
A makeup line is a natural fit for the Barbadian megababe, and the latest in a long list of projects she's attached her name to. The most lucrative are her seven fragrances, which have reportedly netted $75 million in wholesale net shipments. The MAC RiRi Woo lipstick color, which she was enlisted to create after professing her love for the brand's OG Ruby Woo, sold out in just three hours. Hopefully Kendo takes this into account when deciding on product quantity for Fenty Beauty.
Rihanna x Kendo is the brand's third major color cosmetics line following Kat Von D Beauty and Marc Jacobs Beauty. Both of those are sold through LVMH's Sephora, just in case you're wondering where to camp out.
