When we met Tyler the Creator earlier this year he proudly admitted that his greatest accomplishment was being able to "wake up every morning and do whatever I want." It's in this spirit that the rapper and fashion designer held his first runway presentation, Golf Wang 2016, at Made LA. The show brought his colourful, Willy Wonka universe to life with a collection of bright, thoughtful street wear on a runway lined with huge paper flowers and complete with a revolving bedroom set.

With his friends and family modelling and a front row consisting of Kanye, Kendall, Solange and Amandla Stenberg, the scene was set for one of the more fun and eventful shows of the season. Tyler set the tone for the runway as he spoke to the models backstage just prior to the show beginning telling them, "One, thanks. Two, we're about to have a good time. If you trip or anything bad happens, it's actually perfect, lay that shit on. Don't be too cool. I want to see you all out there doing your fucking thing."

During the show Tyler debuted a track called My Ego (which addressed his being banned from entering the UK) and gave away a pair of his Golf Le Fleur shoes to everyone in the audience. Like the Yeezy show at Madison Square Garden in February, where Kanye debuted The Life of Pablo and reconsidered the role of the fashion show, Golf Wang 2016 was a unique celebration paving the way for others to break the mould.
