Video artist and director Charles Atlas brings his iconic form of media-dance to Calvin Klein's autumn/winter 15 campaign films, as i-D cover star Grace Hertzel, Tami Williams and Maartje Verhoef dance across a plain set and are multiplied in technicolour. Atlas, whose work with performance artist Leigh Bowery is legendary, brings an aesthetic to the campaign that is somewhat unexpected from Calvin Klein.
"It's part of an initiative, to explore new values and different ways of doing things, of bringing different people in," womenswear creative director Francisco Costa told Style.com. "I've always been interested in fashion, but I've never participated in it," Charles Atlas said, adding that, "The people at Calvin Klein were so welcoming and really wanted me to do whatever I wanted to do".
The results are playful and unexpected, but perfectly in keeping with 60s vibe of the autumn/winter 15 collection. There is also a menswear film, with a harder, more geometric edge, starring male models Filip Hrivnak and Otto Pierce.
