On a rainy night last week, the tension from the pandemic slowly easing, China's first ballroom competition -- Voguing Shanghai -- attracted huge crowds. Founded by JackyJacky and Shirley Milan, Voguing Shanghai's mission is to empower the LGBTQ+ community -- spreading awareness through positivity and inclusive love. After launching in late 2019, they opened their studio earlier this year after social distancing was relaxed and have already put a magical stamp on the social scene in their city.

Another example of a contemporary Chinese youth culture that's evolving at lightning speed, we went along to capture the energy and excitement of the new night, and to witness the latest outpost of ballroom's global renaissance.
