On Saturday, Maisie Williams attended England's NSPCC Summer Masquerade Ball to raise money for counseling service Childline. Because Williams is a famous actor, the white lace dress she wore was somewhat relevant. Because sexism is alive and well, the presumption that she did not wear a bra was also deemed headline-worthy. And because Williams has no time for creepy comments about what underwear she does/doesn't wear while supporting charitable causes, she provided her own alternative to the sensationalist headline about her (actually pretty demure) outfit.

"Alternative: Game of Thrones actor, Maisie Williams, helps raise thousands at a Summer Masquerade Ball for @NSPCC," she wrote, followed by the frog and tea emojis, in a tweet that so far been favorited over 18k times. The NSPCC even replied, "thanks for all your support, Maisie - we really appreciate it!" Honestly, if anyone knew as much about Maisie Williams's brain as they did about her approach to choosing underwear, they'd probably have seen the burn coming. In April, she suggested that we stop using the word "feminist" entirely, explaining, "You are either a normal person or a sexist." Being a tabloid is evidently not an excuse for being the latter.
