bird of paradise fka twigs performs at mcqueen opening
The i-D cover star sung for the fashion world at the V&A last night for the launch of Savage Beauty.
At the opening of the V&A's Alexander McQueen retrospective last night, FKA Twigs moved like a double rainbow all the way across the stage as she performed 'Two Weeks' in a stunning feather-embroidered gown from the late designer's spring/summer 2008 collection. The audience included the likes of Erin O'Connor, Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Natalie Massenet, Salma Hayek, Victoria Beckham and Stella Tennant - all sporting stunning dresses from the McQueen archive. The exhibition itself is a real magical mystery tour and features a Cabinet of Curiosities full of designs including the signature Armadillo shoes and a white strapless gown that was spray painted by robots in McQueen's iconic spring/summer 1999 show. Having moved across from New York's Metropolitan Museum, where it showed for several months, last night's event was a homecoming party for friends and collaborators of the designer.
