Bowie or SquarePants? It's the 'Whose lyrics?' question literally no one has ever asked, but with indistinguishable gems like, "Ha ha ha, hee hee hee / I'm a laughing gnome and you can't catch me" and "If nautical nonsense be something you wish / Then drop on the deck and flop like a fish!" - perhaps the links between these unrivaled lyricists should be explored further.

Eminent director, author and performer Tina Landau certainly thinks so. She's bringing Bowie on board to create an original track for the upcoming SpongeBob SquarePants musical, alongside artists including The Flaming Lips, John Legend, Cyndi Lauper T.I., Dirty Projectors, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Panic! at the Disco, Plain White T's and tons more.

The musical is described as "a rousing tale of a simple sea sponge who faces the unfathomable," and as "a celebration of unbridled hope, unexpected heroes, and pure theatrical invention." All we need now is confirmation that Kansai Yamamoto is making the costumes (there is absolutely no suggestion of this), and it will surely be fashion's favorite musical ever.
