Finn Wolfhard, star of little-known, rarely-covered telly show Stranger Things, has just been cast in his next role. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor and burgeoning indie band member is joining The Goldfinch film, alongside Baby Driver’s Ansel Elgort. Based on the Donna Tartt novel of the same name, the film follows a character called Theo after he survives (and loses his mother in) a terrorist attack at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Also sharing the name The Goldfinch is the famous Dutch Carel Fabritius painting Theo nicks on the way out.

Theo, played by Ansel Elgort, later befriends someone called Boris in Vegas -- and it’s a younger version of Boris that Finn will be playing. Unfortunately that means we won’t get to see Ansel and Finn together at the same time, but with ‘old’ Boris being played by Dunkirk alumni Aneurin Barnard, the screen’s set to be stacked with a high calibre cast.

It will be great to see what happens at the end of the book, which no one we know managed to finish.
