Browns has been at the forefront of London style since it set up shop 45 years ago, and now it's set for a big future with acquisition by online retail giants, Farfetch. José Neves, CEO and founder of Farfetch said, "The vision is to answer the question 'How will people shop for luxury fashion 5 or 10 years into the future?' This won't be purely online. The answer, we believe, will be a seamless merge of a fantastic physical experience with powerful, yet subtle technology. Browns is the perfect partner for this evolution."

Holli Rogers will join the business as CEO, Mrs Burstein will be appointed Honorary Chairman and Simon and Caroline Burstein will stay on as advisors to the business with a seat on the board of directors. Browns Bride and Vera Wang at Browns will continue to operate separately under the stewardship of Caroline Burstein.

Whilst some might be sad to see another independent force in fashion taken over by a global retail giant, Mrs B seems pretty happy. "We have been a partner of Farfetch for over two years and have enjoyed the journey," she said. "We are delighted to be able to announce that this is the next step for Browns and we couldn't think of a better, more forward-thinking partner to take the reins and respond to the challenges of the future."
