i-D’s best moments from bestival 2015
This weekend, we kissed goodbye to the summer with the last festival of the season and it's fair to say that Bestival really was the best of all. Festival revellers were there in their thousands and DJs such as Seth Troxler, Hudson Mohawke and Shy FX delivered sets to remember. We've picked some of our most memorable sets from the Wight Isle this year!
DJ Moxie at the Diesel stage, dropping Melé, Ambience
Moxie is fast becoming one of the most revered selectors in London. Her set on the Diesel stage this year was one of our favourite from the festival and hearing her drop what is undeniably the tune of the summer was a highlight.
Craig David Presents TS5 at Party On The Moon, Bollywood singing Fill Me In over Still D.R.E
Shy FX's Party On The Moon on the Bollywood stage was off the chain; the likes of Stormzy and Mark Ronson went B2B but there was one man that had the crowd up in arms. Craig David schooled everyone on how to throw down a set with his impeccable DJ mixing all whilst singing and MCing over garage and jungle and had everyone going crazy. The standout moment? Craig performing his classic Walking Away over Dr Dre's Still D.R.E.
Special Request b2b Mella Dee at The Port dropping Mella Dee
The Port was probably our favourite stage this year. It played host to Annie Mac, Skrillex, Seth Troxler, Heidi, B Traits and many more but the one for us was the Jungle Techno throwdown from Paul Woolford aka Special Request going b2b with Mella Dee. Hearing Mella drop this halfway through had us (and everyone else) going nuts!
Klose One at Temple Island dropping Jamie 3:26 & Cratebug, Hit It N' Quit It
This is one of those tunes that you know you've heard before somewhere and love it when it comes on! Kind of like how it was before Shazam came along and sidelined that joyous feeling of grabbing your mate and shouting "Oi this is that tune I was telling you about" and legging it to the dancefloor.
Hudson Mohawke on the Nando's Stage dropping Chimes
This article wouldn't be right without mentioning one of the most talked about stages of the festival. With Nando's slowly moving into the arts and music world with their recent music exchange, the programming for their food truck that doubled up as a music stage (named the Cock O'Van) was on point, and when HudMo took to the stage and dropped this, it was a moment. The chicken was pretty damn good too!
Missy Elliott on the Main Stage playing Aaliyah, Rock The Boat
People had their doubts about Missy. Would she REALLY show? But for her first UK show in six years, she came out all guns blazing, dropping hit after hit and leaving us with an incredible reminder why there's ONLY one Missy. Let's not mention how on point her outfit game was AND she played Aaliyah. A true icon!
