With just two months until Barack Obama hands over the keys to the soon to be rebranded Trump White House and Golf Course, what better moment to remind yourself of the time a thoroughly decent man defied the odds to become Leader of the Free World.

Portrayed by Australian newcomer Devon Terrell, Netflix-produced biopic Barry follows the young Obama as he arrives as a 20-year-old student at Columbia University in the early 1980s. According to a statement released by the online streaming service, it will explore "a pivotal year in the life of the future 44th President of the United States, during which he developed the foundations for his views on race, government, and what it means to be American."

Directed by VICE on HBO host and documentary maker Vikram Gandhi, the film premiered to strong reviews at the Toronto International Film Festival earlier this year and will begin streaming on Netflix on December 16.
