Normal, but the rest of the list is surprising.

Today, Google released its annual trend report and Raf Simons — always #1 in our hearts — tops the list of most searched designers. With a feature-length documentary, his exit from Dior, the ensuing speculation about his replacement, and shoutouts on numerous rap tracks, it's been a big year for Raf.

More surprising, though, are the other nine designers who made the list. Apparently we're suddenly very interested in Jerry Seinfeld's formerly borderline inappropriate ex-girlfriend Shoshanna Lonstein Gruss again. Her swimwear line and the release of every episode of Seinfeld on Hulu this summer secured her the number two spot. She's followed by Giambattista Valli, Thakoon Panichgul, Tadashi Shoji and Elie Saab.

Karl Lagerfeld doesn't make an appearance until fairly late in the game, clocking in at number seven. Because, it turns out, the designers we're searching mostly aren't attached to storied French fashion houses, they're red carpet dress makers. Michelle Obama wore a Thakoon dress to the opening of the new Whitney Museum in April, for example, and Elie Saab lent Lily James a princess-like gown (allegedly worth the equally fantastical price of $45,000) for her Cinderella press tour.

The most searched fashion-related queries are even more revealing. Mainly of the fact that we are all clueless. "What are mules shoes?" is the seventh most frequently asked fashion question on Google.
