The rapper replaces the singer as the headliner at FYF Fest's Saturday event in Los Angeles.
Frank Ocean fans have been convinced that the singer's scheduled headline appearance at FYF Fest in LA this weekend would mean that he was about to simultaneously drop his eagerly awaited new album. But their dreams of seeing him perform tracks like Swim Good, Thinkin Bout You and Pyramids have been dashed, along with the hope that they were getting new material, as Ocean "decided on his own terms to cancel his appearance."
It's not the first time Ocean has pulled out of shows - he dramatically walked off stage at the Øya Festival in Norway back in 2012 and cancelled his European tour dates. He said at the time, "Let me start by saying I feel like an asshole right now but a tough decision had to be made in regard to my schedule over the next months and the casualties of that decision include my appearances at upcoming festivals in Europe and my opening slot of the European leg of the Coldplay world tour. Sorry as fuck, I'll be back if you'll have me."
Frank fans will doubtless take solace in the hope that it means the singer cancelled to focus on completing upcoming Boys Don't Cry material. Festival-goers were at least given the good news that Kanye West has stepped in to cover for him though, and will join the line-up of Morrissey, D'Angelo, FKA Twigs over the weekend.
