"CONSTRUCT DECONSTRUCT RECONSTRUCT" read the show notes for Topman Design's autumn/winter 16 collection. Kicking off LC:M with a bang, Topman let us relive our love for the 90s, by sending a crop of shaggy haired boys down the catwalk decked out in bleached denim, cropped shirts and large, laddered knits which seemed to unravel before your eyes. Everything was oversized, elongated, disheveled, and worn out, while outerwear morphed to nightwear, with an array of satin kimonos and dressing gown like coats. Particularly striking were the crushed velvet suits, teamed with satin shirts and elongated cuffs. The accessories were simple, considered and kept to the theme - silver chains, leather jewelry, peace signs and oversized beanies. Overall, steeped in the rich colours of an Autumnal palette, the collection was a homage to chill vibes of 90s cool, and we totally dug it.
