slumber session: imyrmind

Mellow your mind with music from the Berlin producer making club music for people who don’t like clubs.

IMYRMIND doesn't make your usual sort of dance music. With his debut album Uniwersum Luxus out now on Berlin's Money $ex Records, it's got 15 tracks, or chapters, that mesh together industrial production with synths and hip-hop. It's different. It's chilled. And it's really great. Less of a label, more friends releasing awesome music that they love, M$R is a genre-less home for those that don't quite belong. Hit play for 46 minutes and 33 seconds of IMYRMIND expansion.

What was the first album you ever bought?
I cant remember to be honest, but I think the first record I bought with my own money as a kid was The Love Movement by ATCQ.

Where do you go when the last record ends and the lights come on?
Definitely eating. Always food first.

Do you ever fall asleep to music? If so, what?

I used to do this a lot when i was younger, but somehow I don't do this anymore. Usually it was Dwele or D'Angelo just like everybody else. Nothing special here.

What's the best dream you've ever had?

I cant recall a certain dream but it's gotta be something with either sex or flying. Usually I have bad dreams tho, like loosing all my teeth and trying to reassemble them in the bathroom or trying to punch somebody in the face in slow motion because my body is just to heavy. That heavy depressing self doubt shit, that's usually where you'll find me.

If you could wake up tomorrow having gained a new ability, what would it be?

Playing and understanding a musical instrument on a god level would be amongst the first things for sure, right next to abolishing money and establishing a world socialism of course. Oh and speaking French, because French is the language of the dons mon frère.

Best music to meditate to?

Lonnie Liston Smith is the man right here for you.

What is the ultimate Sunday morning record?

Frank Cunimondo Trio, Sagittarius.

What movie do you think your music would best soundtrack?

Nice question. I'd really love to do something like that actually. I can't think of any movie though because they all have a certain sound attached to them already, so I'll say some keywords about the movie instead: definitely some sort of crime, nothing too heavy though, no murder or rape or something. It would only use violins and drones and that. A semi romantic but depressed anti-hero alcoholic dude and many side characters with a lot of small talk nonsense dialogue. A lot of scenes and cuts, people getting drunk and talking about food and music and how they hate this and that. Maybe we should shoot our own one.

Finish the sentence: the music sounds better with…
A proper sound system of course.
