After she and Caitlyn Jenner met IRL for the first time earlier this week, Laverne Cox has hailed her fellow trans trailblazer as "such a sweet woman" who "loves her family".

During an appearance on James Corden's chatshow, Cox described her first meeting with Jenner as "pretty awesome" and said that she hopes the pair can continue to spearhead greater acceptance and understanding of the trans community. "What I think is so beautiful about this, my visibility and Caitlyn's visibility, is that diverse representations of trans people in the media are so important," Cox explained. "When I think about transitioning in my twenties, as a black transgender woman who was working-class and struggling to make it in New York City, it's completely different from Caitlyn's very public experience."

Cox met Jenner at a private screening of I Am Cait, her forthcoming docu-series, which premieres on E! this coming Sunday, July 26. Sharing her thoughts on Jenner's show and the immense pressure of her high-profile lifestyle, Cox continued: "Just thinking about the paparazzi life she has, I don't want her life. You'll see in the first episode of the show that she sometimes has to change cars multiple times to dodge the paparazzi, which is an insane way to live. There's no way she could have transitioned privately. I think she's doing it very eloquently and beautifully, publicly."
