Tom Fereday beat out more than 240 applicants for the prestigious prize.

Earlier this year Lane Crawford announced their Creative Call Out was coming to Australia to unearth a new wave of emerging talent. Now, just a couple of months later, we have a winner. Sydney furniture designer Tom Fereday Design was selected by the judging panel for his honest design principles and manufacturing process which includes collaborating with local makers.

As the winner of the Australian leg of the Creative Call Out Tom will receive an 18-month partnership with Lane Crawford that includes a business development investment of HK$500,000 (AUS$83,000). The partnership also includes access to Lane Crawford’s retail platform, mentorship and development from a team of internal retail specialists.

Lane Crawford’s director of fashion Kelly Wong said, “We believe that Tom’s creativity will appeal to our customers in Greater China, not only are his designs intelligent and thoughtful yet incredibly enduring. We look forward to taking Tom on the Greater China journey, where he will have the opportunity to showcase his creative products to a new growing customer base that shares in his philosophy of shared responsibility.”

Along with a winner the judges also announced a dozen runner-ups who will be invited to launch collections for up to two seasons, on-boarding services, as well as mentoring from Lane Crawford. Runner-ups include: a.c.v studio, Chris Ran Lin, Christian Kimber, Electric Confetti, Jonathan Liang, Nagnata, Noncense, Painted Pashion, Rachel Burke, Skeehan Studio, Studio Henry Wilson and Thomas Puttick.

Lane Crawford’s Creative Call Out was launched in 2015 to discover and nurture the best new talents in fashion and lifestyle from around the world. With the prize now firmly under his belt Tom Fereday Design joins an esteemed list of winners that includes names like Ffixxed Studios and Angel Chen, proving the prize really does lead to big opportunity.
