As iconic for its contributions to musical history as it is for hosting wealthy, scantily clad hipsters since the start of the millennium, Coachella is solidifying its legacy as a California institution with a film documenting the past two decades of the festival.

Premiering via YouTube Originals on 31 March, Coachella: 20 Years in the Desert promises an in-depth insight into the festival’s beginnings, ‘never-seen-before’ footage of performances, and exclusive interviews. It seems like there’s something for everyone, with Björk, Beck, Radiohead, BLACKPINK, Billie Eilish, LCD Soundsystem, Madonna, and Kanye all tipped to feature in the doc.

Coachella: 20 Years in the Desert will be available to view on YouTube for free with ads for regular users, but for YouTube Premium subscribers, the deal is a little sweeter. As part of YouTube’s partnership with the festival, Premium subscribers will have access to a members-only batch of Coachella passes. Given that general on-sale passes for the first weekend have already sold out, this will be more than a compelling incentive for die-hard festival fans.

If that’s not enough excitement for you, this year’s Coachella line-up boasts a list of headliners that includes Rage Against the Machine, Travis Scott, and i-D’s resident husband --- Frank Ocean. Hold on to your bucket hats, this is sure to be a good one.
