Well earned as it may have been, when Korean supergroup BTS announced that they’d be taking ‘an extended period of rest and relaxation’, members of their globe-spanning fandom were crestfallen to say the least. But, after five long weeks of allowing their musical heroes “to recharge and prepare to present themselves anew as musicians and creators,” as an official statement read, it appears that the time spent waiting was worth it.

Today, K-Pop’s biggest boy band have announced a new album, Map of the Soul: 7. Due to land on February 21 via Big Hit Entertainment, it’s BTS’ first full-length release since their pre-hiatus Map of the Soul: Persona arrived in April of last year. Less than an hour before the record’s announcement, the supergroup simply posted ‘7’, in a deleted tweet that is, well, a lot less cryptic now.

However, details regarding what lies in store for the ARMY fan-base are currently sparse, save for the news that pre-orders will start on January 9. If the collaborations on their last title are anything to go by, featuring Halsey on lead single “Boy With Luv”, as well as a co-writing credit for Ed Sheeran on “Make It Right”, it’d be reasonable to expect some truly blockbuster pairings in February too. No doubt the stans have already started speculating.
