Pleasantly complicated. These are the two words used by Georgian photographer George Nebieridze to describe his latest book '17 . Not necessarily what you would expect from a visual retrospective. A placenta as cover, children's photos on one side, on the next memories of wild club nights. Over 100 of them full of hidden references. Small puzzle pieces that really make sense in the right context.

2017 was a year of great change for the young father. There would be the birth of his second daughter Ofelia, his decision to photograph more for the big names of the music industry, unforgettable party nights. Wild and quiet moments. "I've learned that as an artist you should be as daring as possible and never compromise, it's always or nothing," concludes Nebieridze.

Although the close to 300 photos at first glance match, the Georgian approaches each other differently; trying to find new ways. Many of the pictures are full of melancholy, others let you feel the crackling of sexually charged encounters on your own body. "This book could put me in jail, or at least in many difficulties," admits Nebieridze via email. "It's very daring and provocative, and definitely not for everyone." But in the end he purposely leaves room for interpretation and reveals to the reader only the titles of his works. That was not enough for us. We wanted to know more about the stories behind the photos ...

'Ringo for Hero' und 'Smoke'

"I helped the young musician Ringo Lukas promote his music by shooting photos of him on my roof, and the styling was done by the incredible Erik Raynal, who put him in a wonderful Dior outfit It was a very dreamy experience and I hope I could capture the moment when you look at both photos side by side, the sky goes into the smoke of the dark room by day. 'Ofelia and Wilhelmina'

"Another very personal family photo, it is the very first common image of the two sisters, and you can see directly the passion in Ofelia's face, who was just ten or fifteen days old and looked at cartoons for the first time with her big sister."

'Light' und 'Yonatan'

"The left photo is a still life of two empty plastic cups, they represent the memory that my then partner and I shared with each other after an unforgettable lunch on Lake Geneva." The picture shows very bright blues and whites, it almost feels like it Yonatan is sitting in the backstage on a sofa at one of the men's sauna parties, I see Yonatan as a very innocent person, young, with a pure heart - that's what it's all about the feeling of weightlessness arise. Spätis is an inseparable part of the city, one often associates it with strong memories, it was created in one of those drunken nights where you completely lose the sense of time, but I also feel visually symmetrical and In addition, beer has a place of honor in my heart.

'Me and Nika'

"I finished my last book with a picture of myself in a nun's costume, and I wanted to continue that tradition, with my dear friend Nika, one of my favorite artists, and a great inspiration for more than ten years, kissing my neck. I love the color, a cold yellow, and it reminds me that I should shower my eyelashes more often. "

"This is Thiago Dias, probably the nicest person I know and definitely one of the most beautiful, he has been my muse for a very long time, I love to leave bars with my drink, obviously Thiago too, the slight blur gives the photo Next to that is another image where blurring is important: Late Night Construction Work is the result of deliberate motion blur, and the low exposure allowed me to capture the blue of the night sky. 'Another Placenta'

"This photo has become the cover for several reasons: to encourage femininity and raise awareness of the female body among young people. Most men do not know what a placenta is or what function it has.Hope they become curious after they On the other hand, it is a very personal shot taken during the birth of my second daughter, Ada Ofelia, which stands out, curious, you suspect something unusual, strange and fascinating behind it when you see it in the bookshelf.
