Kendrick Lamar's first footwear collection for Reebok has just been revealed and just like his music, it contains a powerful message. Lamar has put RED and BLUE logos on the heels of the trainers to represent - and bring together - the colours of rival LA gangs the Bloods and the Crips.

The Compton born and bred rapper is hoping that the sneakers will in some way go towards inspiring the youth to bring peace to the streets. Whilst the design risks opening him up to criticism for dealing with such complex issues through a commercial product, it's typical of Lamar to want to address the problems he and his community have faced head on. And if not Kendrick, then who? The limited edition collection consists of two of the brand's celebrated silhouettes - the Reebok Classic Ventilator and Club C - both in muted colours to emphasise the call for neutrality. They'll be available exclusively at JD Sports.
