Julien Dossena’s autumn/winter collection for Paco Rabanne proves that casual and classy are not mutually exclusive.

Structured neoprene designs opened the show in the form of black babydoll dresses and jackets with oversized circle zipper pulls over simple cycling shorts. Shiny shiny, shiny boots of leather were the order of the day, working just as well with the instalment of satin tracksuits featuring opaque paneling and asymmetric collars. All of this casual sportswear was kept classy and offset with the brand's classic disk panel design. In silvers and golds, the beautiful looks were almost chainmail in appearance; vests and flared trousers that would take you from fashion party to otherworldly battlefield with no need to change. And because everybody needs at least a touch of S&M in their collection, several looks winked at twisted straightjacket-meets-schoolgirl, with D buckles holding the whole thing together. Bonus feature: a whole lot of neck action. Whether a crisp white collar peeping out from behind the neoprene, layers of ribbed knits or a heavy black scarf, we learnt that you should never forget the neck.
