you won’t be able to binge-watch the ‘twin peaks’ reboot
In true David Lynch fashion, the highly anticipated debut is not what it seems.
We've got good news.
Yes, that gum you like is going to come back in style but also…Twin Peaks is going to come to a theater near you. Maybe.
"Who knows. Something I'll talk about with David Lynch. There's all sorts of possibilities, but the idea of just throwing it out, having a week [or two] of buzz, and then having it die down, I don't think that makes sense for us."
With the OG cast on board, and with Oscar nominees Naomi Watts, Amanda Seyfried, Laura Dern, Jennifer Jason Leigh all confirmed, Nevins recognizes the power of blurring the boundaries between television and film:
"You're going to see television shows produced primarily for television that's going to play in theaters for an occasional out-of-home collective experience. I'm already feeling interest. People are coming to us, 'You want to premiere this? You want to show four episodes?' So I guarantee you when we put Twin Peaks out people are gonna want to put that in theaters."
Though Laura Palmer predicted we'd meet back in the Red Room in 25 years, the 2017 release is only halfway through completion. But wherever it ends up debuting, it's sure to be wonderful and strange.
